Have you ever heard the saying “the devil is in the details?” Wikipedia defines “the devil is in the details’ as an idiom that refers to a catch or mysterious element hidden in the details, meaning that something might seem simple at a first look but will take more time and effort to complete than expected.” Nothing rings more true to this saying than planning a wedding. What might seem simple at first quickly becomes overwhelming and quite frankly, stressful. While there are some things that the Highlander Weddings team cannot remove from a couples’ to-do list, like the ever-growing guest list, we are here to sort out all of those little details for you and remind you of a few you haven’t even thought of yet.

A common misconception about a camp wedding weekend is that extra days mean extra entertaining and, therefore, extra stress. The truth is that more time with your guests means more fun for you! From lake parties and ziplines to square dances and campfires, we’ve got the entertaining covered and the fun too! Our team will work with you to plan the perfect weekend of fun-filled programming, delicious food and unforgettable memories.

As a summer camp, we have a lot of different activities to offer that make your wedding unique, but as wedding professionals our priority is to help our couples dream big and make their wedding weekend personal. It’s in the small details of your weekend, that your family and friends see pieces of your personality and your relationship, making your wedding the best they’ve ever been to. For the music lovers, we might plan an outdoor rehearsal dinner, by the campfire, with a live bluegrass band to send you stomping into the night. For those couples with a more competitive side, a Team Bride vs. Team Groom battle for victory in a Color War Mountain Relay. You do the dreaming, and leave the details to us!

Most couples have a vision for their wedding, and often want to be involved in the details of their ceremony and reception. However, DIY decorating can be a burdensome task for a couple wanting to spend quality time with their families and friends. More details that we are ready to handle for you! While you and your friends are having a blob war at the lake, we will ensure that every napkin is folded, all flowers are intentionally placed and that the reception is everything you dreamed it would be.

So don’t be afraid of the details. Don’t be overwhelmed with the planning. At Highlander, we are committed to creating a detailed plan for your weekend months before your big day, allowing you to relax and enjoy quality time with your family and friends in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s time to completely reimagine the wedding planning process, and let us worry about the details!
